When you create an account or use the Platform, we collect the information you give us and some technical data about how you use it:

• Account details — your name, email address, phone number, role (candidate, employer, or recruiter), and a securely hashed password.
• Candidate profile & CV data — work history, education, skills, current title, location, availability, profile photo, and any CV files you upload or build.
• Recruiter/company data — company name, logo, description, verification documents, and the job listings you post.
• Usage & device data — pages viewed, actions taken, browser and device type, and IP address.
• Communications — messages you send through the Platform and any support requests.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to run We Recruit and improve it:

• To operate the Platform and match candidates with suitable, verified employers.
• To show your candidate profile to verified employers and recruiters when you have chosen to make it searchable, or when you apply to a job.
• To send service messages such as email verification, password resets, job alerts, and notifications.
• To secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
• To comply with our legal obligations.

3. How your information is shared

We share your information only where needed to provide the service:

• With employers and recruiters — when you apply to a job or make your profile searchable, your relevant profile and CV data is shared with that employer or recruiter.
• With service providers — hosting, email delivery, and similar providers that process data on our behalf and are required to protect it.
• For legal reasons — where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Platform.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Your choices and rights

You stay in control of your information:

• Access and update — view and edit your profile and account details at any time in your settings.
• Control visibility — set your availability to “not looking” to hide your profile from employer and recruiter search.
• Email preferences — opt out of non-essential emails such as job alerts.
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and data by contacting us.

5. Data retention

We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service or meet legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data unless we are required to keep some of it.

6. How we protect your data

Passwords are stored hashed, access to personal data is restricted, and only human-verified employers can reach candidate profiles. No website or service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information.

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your language, and understand how the Platform is used. See our Cookie Policy for details.

8. Children

We Recruit is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you.
